Greater Brandywine Village Revitalization, Inc.

Located on the beautiful Brandywine River, Brandywine Village was described by a European visitor in 1795 as the largest of the new world flour milling communities. The village remained an independent suburb of Wilmington until 1869. In 1996, a group of concerned citizens and the Wilmington Senior Center formed a coalition of neighborhood institutions to call a halt to the economic and social decline of this once proud and historic neighborhood. This group evolved into what is now known as Greater Brandywine Village Revitalization, Inc. The mission of the Greater Brandywine Village Revitalization, Inc. is to improve the quality of life in the greater Brandywine Village area by developing and implementing a Comprehensive Master Plan for the improvement of safety, housing conditions, transportation, economic development, and historic preservation and to coordinate the effort of various civic and governmental organizations in revitalizing North Market Street and the Greater Brandywine Village area. Delaware City

Delaware City's location, at the confluence of the Delaware River and the original Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, made it a bustling shipping port in the late 1800s. Today, its variety of architecture, shops and dining establishments are enjoyed by many visitors who stop on their way to the remarkable Fort Delaware, a well-preserved Civil War Fort located on Pea Patch Island, a short ferry ride from Delaware City. Main Street Delaware City, the Delaware City Area Business Association, and the town itself are working together to increase economic development, improve downtown building facades and streetscaping, and attract more visitors to this quaint waterfront town. Call (302) 838-8740, email dcmainstreet@dca.net, or visit www.delawarecity.info.

Dover

Dover's streetscape has been remarkably enhanced by the completion of more than 67 facade improvements over the last six years. Main Street Dover is taking an active role working with downtown partners to create strategies to reduce building vacancy and recruit sustainable tenants, while actively implementing ways to help existing retailers. See Main Street Dover's website which highlights downtown investment opportunities and showcases the variety of restaurants and shops that can be found in and around Loockerman Street. Rehoboth

Rehoboth Beach Main Street, Inc. was formed in cooperation with the National Trust for Historic Preservation to promote architectural design and rehabilitation, as well as physical and economic use, planning and management of Rehoboth Beach's traditional downtown area for the benefit of the city's many commercial, residential and civic interests. Rehoboth Beach Main Street is working to provide incentives to achieve an attractively designed series of storefronts, restaurants, and hotels, each unique in its appeal and charm, where visitors and residents alike can enjoy the inviting atmosphere created by a revitalized streetscape, including distinctive signage, lighting, architecturally renovated storefronts and sidewalks adorned with plantings and flowers...all to enhance the social and economic vitality of the community of Rehoboth Beach.
